Our good friends at Flatbread Pizza, in Portland, ME, hosted the last Molly Fund event of the summer on Tuesday night and it was so much fun. Meg and I needed a night out with our friends and we scored a sitter for Kieran. Right before we were about to leave for Portland, Kieran complained of a headache and his temperature was a bit warm. Meg gave him a little medicine, put him on the couch, and then the little guy asked us if he was going to die. Kieran is only four, he has problems understanding Molly's death, and Meg and I are very sensitive to that fact. Needless to say, Meg stayed home with Kieran while I hooked up with Dean and Karen for the drive to Portland.....
Sarah Santos lead the charge and organized the event at Flatbread and she is so wonderful. Thank you to everyone that donated items to the silent auction, and a big thank you to Sarah's pals who were there to paint faces and made balloon animals for the groms. It was awesome! Todo Bien (Skip, Salt, Chris, Johnny, and Melissa) took time out of their busy week and made the trip to Flatbread in order to provide the live music, and the place was PACKED!
Bobby Morgan is a Hampton local, and he and his wife, Jen, relocated up to Portland many years ago in order for Bobby to run the show at Flatbread. Bobby was a wonderful host, so very accommodating, and the proceeds from each pizza sold that night benefitted the Molly Fund. I can't begin to thank Sarah and Bobby enough for putting in so much effort into making Tuesday night very special. Sarah, thank you so much for everything. My only regret is that I wish that Meg was there to enjoy the evening. Of course, four minutes after I walked out of the door Kieran was sound asleep.....
The Molly Fund is taking on a life of its own and it's time to take it to the next level. Meg and I are in the process of having the Molly Fund turned into an official non-profit, we are organizing the board of directors, and we're focused on making sure that Molly's Fund will always be in place in order to directly benefit other families that need help. I will keep everyone in the loop with more specifics as things progress.....
Thanks to everyone that made the trip to Flatbread on Tuesday night and, again, huge "thanks" to Sarah, Bobby, Jay, and Johnny for all of the tremendous support. Thank God for pals. Meg and I love you all.
